Karen Mattie – MSPT, Director
Karen is the Director of In-Patient and Outpatient Rehabilitation Services at BMC. Utilizing her extensive clinical and managerial experience, she has been instrumental in developing numerous improvements in patient care and increasing the capacity of BMCs rehabilitation services. A 2002 Northeastern University graduate, Karen is also a certified clinical instructor and certified in the Graston Technique . In addition to her duties as Director, Karen is an active clinician with particular interest in patients with orthopedic injuries.
Michael Gulla – M.Ed. MBA, Practice Manager
Kara Schworm –MSPT, CCS, - Clinical In-patient Supervisor
A 1998 graduate of Springfield College, Kara became an APTA Board Certified specialist of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary rehabilitation in 2007. She is our inpatient clinical supervisor. Kara has a strong background in working with patients with cardiovascular and pulmonary pathology and impairments as well as treating patients in acute ICU settings.
Janet Wright, MSOT - Outpatietn Therapies Supervisor
Janet comes to BMC after working in a variety of pediatric, private , and rehabilitative settings for 23 years. She has extensive experience in working with indivuals with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorders, neuromuscular and psychosocial challenges. Janet’s passions lie in patient advocacy, health care policy, teleheath, and access to care.
Jenn Blake, - MSPT – Senior Physical Therapist
Jenn began practicing in 1998 after graduating from Simmons College. Jenn completed a residency program in orthopedic manual therapy at the IOMT in 2003. She is a certified clinical instructor as well as being certified in the Graston Technique . Jenn has extensive experience in orthopedics in the private practice, home health and hospital-based rehabilitation settings. She has been with BMC for 10 years.
Karen Clark, DPT Senior Physical Therapist
Karen receive her bachelor's degree from University of Pittsburgh,a Master of Science and Clinical Doctorate from Massachusetts General - Institute of Health Professions. Karen has completed a one year residency in manual therapy with the Institute. She has worked in the various fields of physical therapy and is a seasoned generalist with over 25 years of experience. On her time off Karen enjoys volunteering for a non-profit veterans's organization that benefits our past and present soldiers.
Shaunna Lattuca – PT, DPT, OCS- Senior Physical Therapist
Shaunna graduated from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions (MGHIHP) Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2007. She enjoys working in the fast-paced, multi-cultural environment here at BMC where she focuses on post-surgical patients and those with sports-related injuries. Shaunna completed the residency program in orthopedics and manual therapy at the MGHIHP in 2011. She is also a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedics.
Sarah Shedd Capron-PT-Senior Physical Therapist
Sarah is a 1996 graduate of the University of Vermont and completed Level 1 at the Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy in 2003. She is one our senior Physical Therapist and is proud to reach her 15 year anniversary at Boston Medical Center. In her free time she enjoys yoga, running, snow shoeing, cooking and spending time with her young children.
Wendy Regan – OT-Senior Occupational Therapist
Wendy graduated from the University of New Hampshire and has been with BMC for over 35 years. She is a wonderfully talented clinician who is interested in upper extremity injuries, hand and upper extremity splinting. She loves to golf and spend time working on her garden.

Cheryl Anderson – OTR/L
A graduate of Boston University’s Sargent College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences, Cheryl has over 25 years of experience at BMC working as an Occupational Therapist. Cheryl also served as the Senior Occupational Therapist at the New England Regional Spinal Cord Center for Rehabilitation at BMC. Cheryl loves working in the supportive team environment and spending time with patients with neurologic challenges.
Diana Carvalho – OTR/L, CHT
Diana graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1998 and is a Certified Hand Specialist. She is very interested in treating patients post-surgically and those who have experience traumatic injuries. During her past 15 years at BMC, Diana embraces the friendly work environment, diversity of the patients and the outstanding learning opportunities that are available at BMC.
Physical Therapy Staff
Jane Bindley – PT
Jane graduated from Simmons College in 1987 and has been with BMC for over 25 years. She is an expert in many therapies including, but not limited to, process acupuncture, fascial release, lymph drainage massage and Biosynchronistics. Jane loves gardening and being active in community politics and serving as a volunteer leader in the Alternatives to Violence program in the prison systems.
Taylor Bronson – PTA
Taylor graduated in 2011 from Bay State College and delights working with patients with orthopedic and sports injuries. He plans on becoming certified in the Graston Technique to further advance his clinical knowledge. An avid athlete, Taylor loves to run, ski, play soccer and lacrosse.
Jennifer Burus, MSPT
Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Kentucky from 2007 and has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings in Florida, Kentucky and Massachusetts. She has experience with both pediatric patients and adults patients and has worked with both neurological conditions and orthopeadic conditions. Her areas of interest and speciality are traumatic and non-traumatic brain injury, vestibular rehab (dizziness and balance disorders) and cervical pain. In her spare time she loves running, reading and playing the piano.
Shana Cahill – PT, CLE-UE
A 1991 graduate of Northeastern University, Shana has been with BMC for over 13 years. She is a certified Lymphedema Therapist – Upper Extremity and is also certified in Reiki I. Shana has extensive experience in a variety of settings including acute care inpatient, neurological rehabilitation, orthopedics, pediatrics, home care and long term facilities. She loves to make a difference in people’s lives and in her spare time you will find her singing in her own band!
Dan Chapman – DPT
Dan is a 2007 graduate of Ithaca College. He has completed a yearlong residency at the Institute of Manual Therapy and has extensive experience with treating musicians, swimmers and patients with orthopedic injuries. When he is not treating patients, Dan enjoys performing improvisational comedy.
Barbara Crosby – PTA
Barbara is one of our talented Physical Therapist Assistants. She has a tremendous amount of experience with long-term care and orthopedic patients. Barbara enjoys working with the diverse patient population that we treat at BMC and along with her colleagues, greatly appreciates the support of her teammates. Barbara has been a physical therapist assistant at BMC for over a year.
Ryan Diloreti - DPT
Ryan graduated from Northeastern University in 2009 and has since worked at BMC. He is comfortable working with orthopedic, neurologic, and respiratory pathologies. He is the lead aquatic therapist at BMC. He is highly trained with the body weight supported treadmill system. He is a Level 2 Buteyko Breathing Technique educator. He is trained in Biosynchronistics and has taken many courses to further his manual therapy skills. He has also been involved with spinal cord injury and orthopedic research studies. When he's not at work he loves to play music and spend time outdoors.
Claire Evans – PTA
Claire graduated from Bay State College in 2012 and serves as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Her duties include assisting in the education and therapeutic treatment of our diverse patient population. Claire enjoys the teamwork and camaraderie of our clinical staff and is always thrilled to work with our patients.
Alysse Ferranto, PT, DPT
Alysse is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Prior to obtaining her doctorate, she was a Dance Performance undergraduate major and performed professionally in the Cleveland based area. She has extensive knowledge in the treatment of orthopedic injuries and loves to use the art of movement to assist with restoring function. Currently, she is one of four therapists at BMC participating in the “Back to Health Study: A Study Comparing Yoga, Physical Therapy , and Education for Chronic Low Back Pain.” When she is not working she is usually traveling or dancing.
Shayna Hansberry – PT
A graduate of California State University – Sacramento, Shayna has been with BMC for over two years and has extensive clinical experience in treating patients with orthopedic ailments. She thoroughly enjoys working with everyone on the care team and spends her free time traveling, hiking and snowshoeing.
Alison Hinsberger – PT, DPT
Ali graduated from Northwestern University in 2012 and practiced physical therapy in Chicago before moving to Boston. New to BMC, Ali is eager to explore the city of Boston and continue to build her experience working with patients with Orthopedic and Neurologic conditions.
Jessica Lyons - PTA
Jessica graduated from Bay State College in 2013. She has experience working with a variety of patients in both sub-acute and outpatient settings. She is excited to continue to expand her experience and grow as a clinician with BMC. Jessica is a competitive powerlifter and holds the Connecticut state record for her division with Revolution Powerlifting Syndicate.
Luis Pacheco – PTA
Luis graduated from Massbay community college in 1999. He has been a physical therapist assistant for 13 years. He is also a certified massage therapist with 16 years of experience. He likes to use both his skills in massage and physical therapy techniques to maximize treatments for patients. The majority of his experience has been in outpatient orthopedics and subacute/longterm care in skilled nursing facilities. He is fluent in speaking Spanish, enjoys instrumental concerts, exercising, and family time with his children.
Danielle Pastore- DPT
Danielle graduated from The Sage Colleges Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2012. She is currently attending Level I of a residency program at the Institute of Manual Therapy. She has attended the Selective Functional Movement Assessment certification course and enjoys incorporating this into her treatments. Danielle enjoys working with her knowledgeable coworkers, diverse patient population of various ages, and wide-range of orthopedic diagnoses.
Emily Soltys – DPT
A 2011 graduate of Springfield College, Emily was nominated by her faculty in 2011 for the American Physical Therapy Association’s Ruth P. Hall Clinical Fellowship Award, which recognizes a student for academics and professional qualities of dedication and caring. Emily’s clinical interests include neurologic rehabilitation.
Joseph Sousa – PTA
Joe graduated from Fisher College in 2000 and is one of our most experienced physical therapist assistants. He has extensive experience with pre/post-surgical patients and those with work and sports-related injuries. When he is not working, Joe loves to surf and ride his motorcycle.
Crystal Wang, DPT
Crystal graduated from the University of California, San Francisco/ San Francisco State University Physical Therapy Program in 2011, and has worked in outpatient physical therapy since. She started working at BMC in 2014 and enjoys working with the diverse patient population here, and treating patients with orthopedic and post-operative conditions She believes that listening and educating her patients are the keys to successful patient outcomes. She loves to be outdoors and enjoys yoga, hiking, running, snowboarding, water sports, and traveling.
