The New England Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center (NERSCIC) is a specialized unit within the Center for Rehabilitation at Boston Medical Center. Since 1955, NERSCIC has been providing comprehensive care for individuals with spinal cord injury. With fifty years of experience, we continue to offer the latest in research-oriented treatment and the best in specialized rehabilitation care.
Our center is one of fourteen federally designated
National Model Systems Spinal Cord Injury Treatment Centers. Our acute inpatient rehabilitation unit has been accredited by the
Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission (CARF). Our National Model Systems designation combined with our CARF accreditation demonstrates our commitment to providing excellent rehabilitation care and ensuring patient satisfaction.
Due to the nature of spinal cord injury, it is crucial that patients receive specialized care from the moment of injury in order to maximize function and minimize complications. At Boston Medical Center, your rehabilitation begins in the intensive care unit, continues through rehabilitation and progresses to outpatient care and lifetime follow-up.
Patients at the New England Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center benefit from a broad continuum of rehabilitation services. As part of a full service hospital, we are able to provide patients with access to an extensive network of specialty services and diagnostic testing.
Our 18-bed unit enables us to create a supportive environment for patients to focus on their rehabilitation while having access to comprehensive services offered in a major medical facility. The staff at NERSCIC are dedicated to the rehabilitation of individuals with spinal cord injuries; keeping current in the areas of research and treatment trends.
