Job Opportunities – Rehabilitation Therapies

The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies is always looking for talented professionals to join our team. You can view opportunities and apply online once you select a position that interests you.

Our department encompasses Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology and Therapeutic Recreation. Physical therapist, occupational therapist, and speech-language pathologist provide inpatient and outpatient services.  The therapeutic recreation specialist provides services on Boston Medical Center’s acute rehabilitation unit also known as the Center for Rehabilitation.  This is where the New England Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center is located.  This is a model systems program that has been funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) since 1973.  Boston Medical Center is the only facility in the New England Region that is part of the Spinal Cord Injury Network (SCI Network).

Our department values exceptional customer service.  We work together with our patients and their families, physicians, and Boston Medical Center staff and are committed to achieving excellence in patient care through clinical mentorship, supervisory meetings, evidence-based practice, peer review, competency assessment and performance evaluation.

We assist staff in the development of both basic and advanced specialty skills through assessment and treatment of patients with a wide variety of diagnoses, in-service training, continuing education courses and support of formal postgraduate education.  We foster career development through supervision and support of special interests, participation in the department clinical ladder program, and upward mobility within the department.  We empower our staff and provide a supportive learning environment.

We collaborate with local and national universities to provide a well-rounded learning experience for physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology students.  We also pursue opportunities to educate other health care providers and the community at large.

Physical therapist and occupational therapists have the opportunity to experience the wide variety of service at BMC by rotating every 6 months.  A thorough orientation and mentor program assures therapists are competent and confident prior to rotating to a new service.
