Neural Prostheses for Restoration of Bladder Function

Kenneth J. Gustafson, PhD, Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Urology, Case Western Reserve University; Research Scientist, Cleveland VA Medical Center; Research Scientist, Cleveland FES Center

Lower urinary tract dysfunction can have a devastating impact on quality of life for those with spinal cord injury.  Dr. Gustafson will provide and overview of current research areas of neural prostheses for bladder control as well sensory based stimulation of spinal reflexes.  He will also provide an introduction to Functional Electrical Stimulation to restore function after spinal cord injury
