SIDS News from the Presidential Campaign

Your help is even more critical! As the SIDS rate declines, there is concern that SIDS may cease to be a research priority. This is a critical time to make your voice heard. It is important that NICHD continue to support research aimed at uncovering what causes SIDS, who is at risk for this disorder, and identify ways to lower the risk. The importance of understanding SIDS is only underlined by its recent place in the headlines. The more we learn about SIDS, the more easily we will be able to distinguish SIDS from other infant deaths, and perhaps even one day be able to predict more accurately which babies are at higher risk and hopefully prevent it. Theneed to respond is immediate. Your support for these research efforts has made the difference in the past and can do so again in the future!
