Fellowship Program in Pediatric Infectious Diseases
MAJOR FEATURES OF TRAINING PROGRAM:
To investigate infectious diseases that affect our inner-city community of 40,000 children. In our research program Fellows develop skills in epidemiology, research protocol design, laboratory methods, teaching, and diagnosis and management of pediatric infectious diseases.
We focus on diseases that are frequent in these children including:
- otitis media (epidemiology, diagnosis, genetics, immunology, management)
- occult bacteremia in febrile infants
- neonatal sepsis
- diagnosis and management of infants with HIV infection
- diagnostic virology and evaluation of antiviral and antibacterial agents
