Our Team

BMC physician, nursing and social work teams collaborate closely with other clinical pediatric specialists to assure the best and most comprehensive care for each patient.  These teams include neuropsychologists, psychiatrists, geneticists, sleep specialists and neurosurgeons, as well as social workers, emergency medicine specialists, intensivists and developmental pediatricians. Other experts range from otolaryngologists, gastroenterologists and endocrinologists to cardiologists, pulmonologists, ophthalmologists, allergists and orthopedists.

Clinical Interests: Cerebral palsy, neonatal neurology, Tourette syndrome, motor disabilities, stroke and autism.

Current Research: Multi-center National Institutes of Health (NIH) study looking at biological protein markers in the blood of babies born under 28 weeks gestation that predict cerebral palsy and other later manifesting developmental disorders of the brain, including autism.

Clinical Interests: Sleep disorders, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), epilepsy, learning disabilities, malnutrition and brain development.

Current Research: Awarded NIH program project grant for neuroanatomical studies on the detrimental effects of prenatal malnutrition on the developing brain.

Clinical and Research Interests:  The diagnosis and treatment of PANDAS syndrome (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infections), an uncommon, but important, neurological disorder that involves rapid onset of obsessive-compulsive disorder caused by group A streptococcal infection.
