Ilya Voloshin, M.D.
Assistant Professor
Ilya Voloshin, MD is an Assistant Professor of orthopaedic surgery at the Boston University
School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center. Dr. Voloshin received his medical degree
from Dartmouth Medical School and performed his orthopaedic surgery residency training
at the University of Rochester. He completed his fellowship specialty training at the Center
for Shoulder, Elbow and Sports Medicine at Columbia University and another mini-fellowship
in elbow surgery at the Mayo Clinic in the summer of 2004. Dr. Voloshin helped with medical
coverage of professional athletic teams in Rochester, New York, as well as the Tournament of
the Champions in Squash in New York City in 2004 and US Open in Squash in Boston in 2004.
Dr. Voloshin has extensive training in all aspects of shoulder and elbow disorders and sports
medicine. He offers expertise in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery as well as complex
reconstructions and joint replacement in the area of the shoulder and elbow. His particular
clinical and academic interests are in the management of rotator cuff disease, shoulder
instability, and arthritis of the shoulder and elbow. He is currently leading multiple research
projects and has authored numerous book chapters and scientific articles in the field of
shoulder, elbow, and sports medicine. Dr. Voloshin is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of
North America and a candidate member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
