Resident Education

The Minimally Invasive Program at BMC exposes residents to a number of laparoscopic, robotic and hysteroscopic procedures.

At the end of training, residents will be proficient in:

• Advanced laparoscopic procedures such as Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy
• Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy
• Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy
• Laparoscopic Surgery for Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain
• Laparoscopic Myomectomy
• Laparoscopic Appendectomy

Residents also get extensive experience with Operative Hysteroscopy through cases such as:

• Hysteroscopic Myomectomy
• Polypectomy
• Ablation and Resection
• Synechiolysis
• Sterilization

Residents can also expect to perform a number of anti-incontinence procedures such as TVT and TVT-O.

Lahey Rotation

We have maintained a strong affiliation with the Gynecology Department at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. The Department has 3 Gyn Oncologists, 10 Generalists, and 1 Reproductive Endocrinologist. Our PGY2 and PGY3 residents spend 10 weeks each at the Lahey Clinic. This is an intensive surgical rotation in advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures, urogynecologic procedures for prolapse and incontinence, and GYN oncology.
