Making an Appointment

Most patients are referred to Neurosurgery by their primary care physician or referring physician who has examined you and recommended a neurosurgical evaluation. You can be referred to a specific neurosurgeon or we can assist you in choosing the neurosurgeon who specializes in your condition. We try to schedule all new appointments within 2 weeks of the request, but we will schedule you sooner if your need is urgent.

We require that all patients have a recent (within the last 3 to 6 months) MRI or CT scan prior to the first appointment. This is usually ordered by your primary care or referring doctor. It is important that we have the films and the report for your visit. Copies of any reports related to office visits, hospital records, pathology and X-rays may also be brought with you.

Sometimes our neurosurgeons have unexpected emergencies or surgeries that arise at the last minute and may disrupt our schedules despite our best efforts. We will try our best to contact you to reschedule your appointment if this happens.

When you make an appointment, we will collect your personal and insurance information so that we can give you a hospital identification number. We will also ask you for the name of your primary care or referring doctor so that the neurosurgeon can send him or her a report of your visit.
