Boston University School of Medicine

The fabric of patient care, teaching, and researchPatient Care
A full spectrum of Inpatient and Outpatient, Primary and Specialty Care takes place at Boston Medical Center's large, modern, dynamic urban medical center. Care is provided by our physician organization, Boston University Medical Group.

Primary Care is offered on our own campus and at several other locations, including our satellite practice at 930 Commonwealth Avenue. We are pioneers in the idea of customizing Primary Care to the needs of a particular group. For example, our Women's Health program was one of the first Primary Care practices in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to women's unique health issues, and our Geriatric service offers physician house calls to the homes of older adults. Primary Care is complemented by an array of excellent care in every Medical Specialty.

Outreach to the Community
Unique combinations of Patient Care, Teaching and Research Programs reflect our commitment to meeting the ever-changing needs of our urban and suburban populations, while respecting ethnic, religious and cultural differences.

Creating a rich learning environment for allTeaching
Our bond with Boston University School of Medicine and other institutions helps us to create a rich learning environment for all. We share knowledge with the medical students rotating through our hospitals and outpatient areas, residents and fellows completing their training, patients and members of our community.

Research
Research programs are generously supported by more than $70 million a year in grants from outside agencies, primarily the National Institutes of Health (NIH). We rank in the top 10-15 percent nationally of Departments of Medicine receiving NIH funds.
