Leaders Health Care Administration Program is looking for serious, motivated undergraduates
and postgraduates for its paid internship and fellowship programs.
Through the Emerging Leaders Health Care Administration Program, Boston Medical Center
offers a unique and exciting opportunity to turn your academic knowledge into practical,
hands-on experience. Our private, not-for-profit, 547-bed facility emphasizes community-based
services, providing accessible- and excellent - medical care while serving as the largest
safety net hospital in New England.
As the primary teaching affiliate for the Boston University School of Medicine, we offer
a dynamic and progressive environment in which to learn, practice, and grow as a
professional.
Life in the South End
From the beginnings of the American Revolution to the cutting edge of
modern medicine, Boston has always been an exciting place to live and work - and from our
location in the South End, Boston Medical Center is at the center of it all.
Located minutes from the renowned Museum of Fine Arts, the shops of Newbury Street and the

Internship Program (3 months during the summer)
You will be provided with an opportunity to learn in a fast-paced,
productive health care environment. Interns work with experienced directors and managers
in order to gain tangible skills and valuable work experience.
Internship Requirements include:
- Attend an accredited college or university
- Be a full-time student in a bachelor's or master's degree program.
Must be at least a second semester junior.
- Maintain an overall grade point average of 3.0.
- Be available to work for three consecutive months during the summer.
Fellowship Program (1 year)
You will be provided with a foundation for health care management leadership roles, as we
offer true-to-life experiences and learning opportunities within essential areas of a medical
care organization. As a result, you will gain experience through exposure to the executive
management level. We will also rotate you through key departments and divisions of the
hospital, with the objective of obtaining an applied understanding of selected areas.
Rotational areas include (but are not limited to):
- Ambulatory and Operational Areas
- Finance
- Ancillary Services
- Human Resources
Although greatly encouraged, the fellowship carries no commitment of employment at Boston
Medical Center upon completion. The knowledge and skills developed during the program are
widely transferable in most health care environments.
Fellowship Requirements include:
- Must have completed a master's degree program at an accredited college or university.
- Must be available for a 1-year period for fellowship responsibilities.

Application Deadlines
Internship Program application deadline: March 9, 2007.
Fellowship Program application deadline: All supporting materials must be received by Boston Medical Center
no later than 6-weeks after submission of a completed,
on-line application.
Selected candidates for the respective programs will be contacted to schedule initial
interviews in approximately 6- weeks from their application deadline.
