BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER APPOINTS NEW INTERVENTIONAL PHYSIATRIST

We are pleased to announce the addition of Anton Shcherbina, MD to the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Shcherbina received a BS in Biochemistry at Lehman College, CUNY, Bronx, NY in 1997 and his medical degree from Health Sciences Center at Brooklyn, SUNY in 2001. He completed his internship at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY, followed by residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, NY. Most recently, Dr. Shcherbina completed a fellowship in Pain Management at the Department of Anesthesia at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, also in New York, NY.

Dr. Shcherbina will develop an interventional pain management program in conjunction with the Radiology department. Radiographically guided spinal injections including epidural blocks, facet blocks, sacroiliac joint blocks, and provocative discography will be performed utilizing a C-arm fluoroscopy unit. Patients with a wide variety of somatic and neuropathic pain conditions who have achieved insufficient relief from more conservative treatments such as physical therapy and medication may benefit from these state of the art techniques. The treatments may also be used as an alternative to more aggressive treatments involving surgery.

Please join us in welcoming a new member to the BMC community, Dr. Anton Shcherbina.

To make an appointment with Dr. Shcherbina, please call (617) 414-0040.
