Adherence Clinic

The Adherence Clinic provides patient support crucial to successful treatment of HIV, and fosters research projects to enhance patient adherence to medications, improve patient-provider communication and support other ground-breaking pharmacy-related interventions. The HIV Adherence Clinic is fully integrated into the CHACR’s patient care practices. The clinic enrolls HIV-positive patients who are new to antiretroviral therapy (ARVT) medications for the treatment of HIV and patients who are ARVT-experienced patients who are switching to a new regimen. We provide adherence reinforcement for patients who have detectable HIV (viral load) while on ARVT.

Referrals to the Adherence Clinic

Patients can be referred to the Adherence Clinic by their provider, or they may self-refer, for the following issues:

• Initiation of a new or first HIV treatment regimen in the near future [Medication in Hands Adherence Program (MHAP) funded by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health]
  
  
• Evaluation of factors leading to loss of HIV suppression
  
  
• Drug-drug interaction issues
  
  
• Management of ARVT-associated side effects
  
  
• Drug information questions
