Paul C. Schroy III, M.D., M.P.H.
Paul C. Schroy III, M.D., M.P.H., is the Director of Clinical Research for the Section of Gastroenterology, Associate Professor
of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine and Associate Professor of Epidemiology/Biostatistics at the
Boston University School of Public Health. Dr. Schroy is a native of Woodbury, New Jersey and a graduate of
Haverford College, Jefferson Medical College and Boston University School of Public Health. He completed his
residency in Internal Medicine at the North Shore University Hospital (Cornell University) and fellowship in
Gastroenterology at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He is board-certified in both Internal Medicine
and Gastroenterology and a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Schroy is a nationally recognized authority in the area of colorectal cancer prevention and control and
currently serves a member of the Steering Committee of the Colorectal Cancer Work Group for the Massachusetts
Department of Public Health and the Steering Committee of the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable. During his
tenure at Boston Medical Center, he has established colorectal cancer screening and surveillance programs for
both average and high-risk individuals. These programs integrate state-of-the-art endoscopic strategies with
novel radiological techniques such as virtual colonoscopy and, where applicable, genetic counseling/testing
for individual at risk of hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer and familial adenomatous polyposis. Dr.
Schroy has an extensive experience with endoscopic polypectomy utilizing both standard and advanced techniques
such as argon plasma coagulation (APC) and laser ablation.
