Lawrence J. Saubermann, M.D.
Dr. Lawrence J. Saubermann is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine,
a staff physician in Gastroenterology at Boston Medical Center, and a faculty member in the Division of Graduate
Medical Science at Boston University. He also has a joint appointment in the Immunobiology Section, and is a
member of the Immunology Training Program.
Dr. Saubermann's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandeis University, Waltham,
MA, where he received honors in Biology. He then attended the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical
School, where he received his Doctoral Degree in Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in
internal medicine at Rhode Island Hospital/Brown University Medical School in Providence, RI. Following
his residency, he pursued a clinical and research fellowship in gastroenterology at the Brigham and Women's
Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. Dr. Saubermann joined the faculty of the Division of
Gastroenterology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, prior to his move to Boston Medical Center in 2000. He
has board certification in internal medicine and gastroenterology.
Currently his time is divided between clinical practice and basic scientific research in Inflammatory Bowel
