The liver disease core offers expertise in the diagnosis
and treatment of all forms of liver disease.
The CDD specializes in caring for patients with
viral hepatitis B and C, and our patients are eligible to
participate in clinical trials for new therapies for these
disorders. CDD physicians collaborate with the
Infectious Disease Section at Boston Medical Center in
the care of patients co-infected with hepatitis C and HIV.
The CDD cares for patients with autoimmune liver
diseases and metabolic liver disorders including
hemochromatosis and Wilson's Disease.

The CDD physicians collaborate with Boston Medical
Center's Oncology and Radiology Departments to offer
our patients with liver cancer a comprehensive care plan
including medical treatment, minimally invasive
therapies and surgical procedures. Our physicians
offer expertise in the treatment of cirrhosis and its
complications, including endoscopic treatment of
esophageal varices and the placement of TIPS, a shunt
inserted into the abdomen to decompress blood vessels
suppying the liver.
