Filing a 51 A
All 51As must be reported initially with a phone call to DSS and then follow up
with the written form. 51 A reports should be mailed or
faxed to DSS within 24 hours of the telephone report to the DSS Hotline 1-800-792-5200.
A copy of every 51A filed at BMC should be faxed to The Child Protection Team's confidential fax
machine, at 617-414-3648. The reporter is under no obligation to consult with The
Child Protection Team before filing, however the team is available for needed
consultation 24/7 via the oncall pager 617-638-5795/#7336.
