Health and Insurance Plans — BMC Employee Pharmacy

If you’re one of the many employees, who is enrolled in the BMC group health plans (BMC Preferred, HPHC HMO, or HPHC PPO) you should consider filling your prescriptions at the BMC Employee Pharmacy. It’s convenient and you’ll save money.  At the Employee Pharmacy you are able to take advantage of lower copayment amounts and pick up a 30-day or 90-day supply.

Questions and Answers about the BMC Employee Pharmacy:

Where is the Employee Pharmacy located, and how do I access it?
The Employee Pharmacy is located in the Yawkey Ambulatory Care Building between the elevators and the information desk. You will need to use your employee ID badge to access the pharmacy.

What days and hours will the Employee Pharmacy be open?
It’s open Monday through Friday, 9 am. – 8 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

How is BMC able to offer the lower cost copayments?
BMC is considered a “Disproportionate Share Hospital” (DSH), which means it treats significant numbers of low-income patients. As a DSH, BMC qualifies for a special government pharmacy program known as 340B. This program offers lower prices for drugs. BMC is able to pass this lower cost on to employees.

Can I pay cash for my copayments?
Yes, you are able to make your copayments with cash, credit or debit card.

If I have a BMC-credentialed doctor and am a Harvard Pilgrim member, may I use the BMC Employee Pharmacy even if I’m not enrolled in one of the BMC Group Health Plans?
No. The special copayment pricing is being offered by BMC Group Health Plans, not Harvard Pilgrim, so you must be enrolled in one of the BMC plans to participate.

Can I still use any of the BMC pharmacies if my prescription is written by a non-BMC credentialed doctor?
Yes, as long as you are enrolled in one of the BMC Group Health Plans (BMC Preferred, HPHC HMO, or HPHC PPO).

How does my non-BMC doctor order a prescription for me at the Employee Pharmacy?
Your non-BMC doctor can write a prescription for you that you can drop off at the Employee Pharmacy or they can sent it electronically by selecting "BMC YACC Outpatient Pharmacy" in E-Rx.
