Dr. Ortega graduated from medical school at the UNPHU in Santo Domingo. He trained in anesthesiology at Boston Medical Center and after completing a Fellowship in cardiac anesthesia in 1985, he joined the faculty. He is a Professor of Anesthesiology at Boston University School of Medicine and the Vice-Chairman of Academic Affairs of the Department of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Ortega is Board Certified in Anesthesiology.
