BMC Teams Up with Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boredom Busters to Bring Art to Pediatric Emergency Department
Boston – May 28, 2014 – BMC recently teamed up with Massachusetts College of Art and Design and Boredom Busters to bring some color to the walls of the hospital. A big thank you to Boredom Busters, who provided funding for the project, and to the talented art students who painted beautiful storybook illustrations as murals on the walls of BMC’s pediatric emergency department.
BMC’s collaboration with Boredom Busters began in 2010 when they donated toys, games and activities to help make the hospital experience better for BMC’s pediatric patients. To date, they have generated $40,000 for pediatric programs and capital projects through annual programs such as The Crayon Program, where each patient receives crayons, and the Birthday Program, where patients in the hospital on their birthday receive a gift on their special day that they can take home.
“We are truly thankful to Boredom Busters and to the creative and talented students at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design for bringing the walls to life with wonderful art, which will truly lift the spirits of our patients and their families,” said Stephanie Sharp, MS, CCLS, a certified child life specialist at BMC.
