Welcome to the CHACR

Our Mission

The mission of the Center for HIV/AIDS Care and Research is to provide exceptional medical care, comprehensive support services, and novel prevention and treatment options to improve the quality of life of individuals diagnosed with HIV/AIDS; to conduct cutting-edge research to promote optimal patient care; and to educate patients, their families, and providers to expand knowledge, affect behaviors, and prevent the spread of HIV.

World AIDS Day 2008 at BMC

New research may lead to novel strategies for HIV treatment

CHACR investigator, Dr. Andrew Henderson, and colleagues recently published data in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) that showed HIV replication could be blocked by inhibiting a cellular protein. This has implications for novel therapies that are less susceptible to developing resistance.
